Transference (2013)

What is being transferred in this software is gesture: starting first with hand movement, transferring that movement through a variety of different heuristic channels (absolute difference (raw intensity of movement), directionality, size, etc.) to generate computer sound, which is then transferred to video generation. Put more poetically, this software (and its use) is a transference of human movement to computerized sound to computer-generated video.

After calibrating the system, hand movement (or other movement) is used to directly alter sound parameters and to dynamically traverse a musical timeline, while at the same time the hand movement and generated sound is used to alter vector graphics. Created as part of a 2013 residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
